A Whole Day of Silence

Today we are saddened to learn of Leonard Nimoy’s passing.  Star Trek: Generations was released in the US on November 18th, 1994.  Mike and I went to see it wearing Santa hats.  When Kirk died, we stood up and put our hats over our hearts.  It’s a little silly to say that we had a moment of silence in a movie theater while a movie was playing, but until then, we’d been the annoying 14-year-olds gabbing over every scene, so that’s what happened.  We were only partly joking in our tribute.  I feel like having a whole day of silence now in memory of Leonard.

As the man himself said in his last tweet, “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.”

Thanks for all the perfect moments we remember, Mr. Nimoy.  Godspeed.
